Ultrasonographer

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a full-time day-shift Ultrasonographer at its Waterman facility in Tavares, Florida. The role involves performing diagnostic ultrasound exams in line with provider orders and protocols, working closely with radiologists and other healthcare providers.

Key responsibilities

• Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound exams according to provider orders and protocols
• Verify patient identity and exam appropriateness, obtain clinical history, and explain procedures to patients
• Position patients and equipment, manipulate transducers and technical factors to obtain optimal images, waveforms, heart rates and other diagnostic data
• Acquire and analyze ultrasound images and data, producing complete studies for radiologist interpretation
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR and PACS systems and complete the ultrasound technologist worksheet
• Operate imaging equipment safely, including scanners, injectors and monitors, and adapt protocols for patients of all ages
• Collaborate with radiologists and other providers, and keep exam rooms clean and equipment checked

Required profile

• Detailed knowledge of ultrasound physics, cross-sectional and vascular anatomy and Doppler techniques, able to work independently to radiologist standards
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and ability to learn Radiology software and PACS applications
• Patient care and communication skills with patients of all ages, including infants and the elderly
• Preferred: Associate degree or technical/vocational school eligibility for ARDMS or ARRT boards, 1+ year of experience, and preferred specialties such as breast, prostate, OB, pediatric, neuro or vascular sonography
• Required: Basic Life Support (CPR) certification and registration with ARRT or ARDMS, or RDMS-BR certification
