About the role
The Student Support Services Tutor provides academic assistance to participants across multiple campuses of Phillips Community College. Working under the Tutor Coordinator, the tutor helps students succeed in developmental and college‑level coursework and prepares them for exams.
Key responsibilities
- Meet weekly with project participants on their respective campuses.
- Assist with developmental and college‑level coursework and test preparation.
- Model effective study habits and strategies essential for college success.
- Serve as a role model for economically, educationally disadvantaged, and disabled students.
Required profile
- Earned an “A” or “B” grade in the course to be tutored.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of disadvantaged and disabled students.
- Preferably share a background similar to the target student population.
