Trial Attorney (MGC & FCPA Units)

About the role

This 24‑month renewable term position is for a Trial Attorney within either the MGC Unit or the FCPA Unit of the U.S. Department of Justice. The attorney will independently direct investigations, prepare and conduct trials, and provide legal advice on complex financial fraud matters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and monitor investigations, including grand‑jury work, electronic evidence handling, and use of federal investigative tools.
• Prepare pleadings, appear at hearings, and litigate motions and trials before U.S. District Courts nationwide.
• Recommend charging decisions, propose dispositions, and develop litigation priorities, policy, and legislative recommendations.
• Collaborate with Assistant U.S. Attorneys and other federal law‑enforcement agencies on complex white‑collar and corporate prosecutions.
• Evaluate potential violations of financial fraud laws, the FCPA, and FEPA, and determine investigative merit.
• Represent the United States in negotiations with corporate counsel and high‑level officials, and advise senior DOJ leadership on case status.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship.
• J.D. degree and active license to practice law in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
• Ability to pass a pre‑employment security investigation.
• Male applicants born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service or qualify for exemption.
• Willingness to comply with direct‑deposit payroll requirements.
• Potential two‑year trial period.
