Traveling Security Field Engineer – Electronic/Integrated Security

About the role

Johnson Controls Federal Systems is seeking an experienced Commercial Electronic Security Systems Field Engineer to support Department of Defense and other federal sites across the United States. This remote/virtual position requires up to 75% travel.

Key responsibilities

• Lead on‑site projects, planning, executing, and completing electronic security installations safely and cost‑effectively.
• Program, integrate, commission, and verify system hardware and software, ensuring full functionality.
• Develop project plans, coordinate resources, and manage subcontractors, electricians, and technicians.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance to less‑experienced team members.
• Ensure compliance with state, local, and federal regulations and Johnson Controls safety standards.
• Communicate project status to management and assist with revenue, cost, and margin forecasting.

Required profile

• 5+ years of field experience in commercial or industrial electronic security.
• Hands‑on experience with system design, commissioning, and programming.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances.
• Strong communication skills for translating technical material to non‑technical audiences.

Required skills

• Electronic Security Systems programming and integration.
• Experience with Lenel, Vindicator, Softwarehouse C‑cure 9000, Bosch BVMS, or similar platforms.
• Fiber‑optic networking knowledge.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Windows environment.

What we offer

• Base salary $85,000–$105,000 per year, negotiable based on experience.
• Eligibility for a 10% performance bonus.
