Trauma Therapist – Police Department (Part‑Time)

About the role

The Police Department is seeking a qualified Trauma Therapist to provide therapeutic services to children and adults affected by domestic violence. Working under the supervision of a Police Lieutenant and the Family Crimes Unit Coordinator, you will coordinate care and guide clients through the court process.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver individual and family therapy to victims of domestic violence.
• Coordinate community and agency services to support clients.
• Assist clients throughout legal proceedings and court appearances.
• Maintain confidential records and adhere to professional ethics.
• Make informed decisions impacting juveniles and their families.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Master’s degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, counseling or a related field.
• Domestic violence counseling experience preferred.
• Certified and clinically licensed, or a Clinical Social Worker, Certified Professional Counselor Intern, or Marriage and Family Therapist Intern eligible for licensure within three months.
• Maintain licensure per NASW guidelines and complete 40 hours of continuing education every two years.
• Valid Utah driver’s license.

• Family and individual therapy methods and techniques.
• Crisis intervention theory and practice.
• Understanding of human development and adolescent behavior.
• Familiarity with domestic violence dynamics, resources, and relevant laws.
• Ability to handle confidential information securely.
• Basic computer proficiency and strong written English.
