Transportation Supervisor

About the role

The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for leading and training drivers to ensure safe, efficient, and on‑time deliveries. This position works closely with the Transportation/Operations Manager to oversee daily logistics, compliance, and driver performance.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, coach, and evaluate drivers, handling staffing, training, and performance management.
• Assist with driver scheduling and ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
• Ride along with drivers for training and evaluation purposes.
• Support the Transportation/Operations Manager with payroll calculations, trip‑log reviews, expense reports, and compliance monitoring.
• Enter and retrieve data in the automated fleet management system.
• Monitor vehicle safety, proper use of equipment, seat belts, and safe lifting practices.
• Track driver documentation such as licenses, tickets, accidents, and qualification files.
• Ensure accurate completion of delivery paperwork, invoices, cash receipts, fuel tickets, DOT logs, DVIRs, and accident reports.
• Oversee post‑trip inspections and coordinate truck, tractor, and trailer maintenance.
• Collaborate to minimize operating expenses and optimize routing.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• 2–4 years of transportation or related experience.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards.
• Experience using computerized fleet management systems.
• Willingness to work a shift starting at 2 am.
