Transload Operator

About the role

The Transload Operator ensures safe and efficient movement of bulk dry goods between railcars, tanker trucks, and storage silos at Lhoist North America. You will work in a fast‑paced plant environment, handling heavy equipment and supporting routine maintenance while adhering to strict safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Follow all company safety procedures and complete required paperwork on time.
• Perform repetitive lifting of 50‑100 lb loads and operate front‑end loaders, forklifts, skid steers, and other heavy machinery.
• Transfer bulk materials, mix lime and water, and operate slurry equipment safely.
• Connect hoses, valves, pumps, conveyors, and grounding equipment; enforce lockout/tagout and track safety rules.
• Conduct routine lubrication, minor repairs, and basic maintenance on conveyors and other equipment.
• Assist maintenance staff and fill in for routine duties as needed.
• Maintain a clean work area and report any operational or safety concerns.

Required profile

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Excellent attendance and ability to work 12‑14‑hour shifts, seven days a week, including holidays.
• Strong safety orientation and ability to work in dusty, outdoor, and severe‑weather conditions.
• Willingness to travel and work overtime as required.
• Effective communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Operation of front‑end loaders, forklifts, and skid steers.
• Basic equipment lubrication and minor repair techniques.
• Conveyor and slurry equipment operation.
• Knowledge of lockout/tagout, track safety, and grounding procedures.
• Basic welding knowledge.
