Transformer Service & Test Technician

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Transformer Service & Test Technician to lead a team in the assembly, vacuum oil filling, testing, and maintenance of power transformers and substation equipment. This remote‑based role involves extensive field work, travel to customer sites, and close collaboration with sales and project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Perform hands‑on assembly, repairs, and maintenance of transformers and substation apparatus, including mechanical and electrical connections.
• Operate oil processing equipment for vacuum filling, retro‑filling, degasification, dehydration, and re‑inhibition of mineral, ester‑based, and synthetic insulating fluids.
• Conduct comprehensive transformer testing using Doble, Megger, and other diagnostic tools.
• Carry out internal tank and LTC inspections, leak repairs, gasket replacements, painting, and other maintenance services.
• Assemble and dis‑assemble transformers for commissioning, relocation, or de‑commissioning projects.
• Interface with customer contacts throughout project phases and ensure clear communication.
• Supervise and mentor technicians, ensuring safety, quality, and timely completion of tasks.
• Provide technical support to the sales team for quotation preparation.
• Prepare and submit accurate project documentation on schedule.

Required profile

• Proven experience with transformers and substation apparatus; supervisory experience is a plus.
• Computer literate and able to maintain professionalism in all interactions.
• Willingness to travel frequently by driving or flying.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and eagerness to learn new skills.
• Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing and obtain a clean criminal record check.
• Eligibility to work in the United States.
• Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred).
