Training Excellence & Readiness Officer (Deputy)

About the role

The Deputy Training Excellence and Readiness Officer supports the development, measurement and continuous improvement of training programs for SEAL/SWCC candidates. This position ensures training safety, compliance with Navy and OSHA regulations, and provides expert advice to senior leadership on high‑risk training environments.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and gathering metrics to evaluate training effectiveness.
• Plan, coordinate and execute ongoing training safety assessments and evaluations for high‑risk programs (live‑fire, demolition, air, dive).
• Advise the Commanding Officer on workplace safety and environmental compliance.
• Interact with senior officials at higher headquarters, other DoN and Joint Services activities, providing expertise on training safety.
• Maintain required security clearance, driver’s license and government travel card; travel to CONUS and OCONUS sites as needed.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen, suitable for federal employment, and able to pass E‑Verify.
• Must obtain and maintain a current security clearance.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑12 level, overseeing high‑risk training and safety programs.
• Demonstrated ability to apply Operational Risk Management (ORM) and Risk Control System principles.
• Experience developing, planning, administering and evaluating policies and instructions for High‑Risk Training Safety (HRTS) programs.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.
