Trailer Mechanic

About the role

R+L Carriers is seeking a skilled Trailer Mechanic to join its Kearny, NJ service center. Working the second shift, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a fleet of trailers to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform safety inspections and complete required documentation in compliance with FMCSA and other regulations.
• Diagnose mechanical issues, repair or replace defective parts, and conduct preventive maintenance on trailers.
• Test equipment to verify proper performance and adherence to manufacturer specifications.
• Utilize the Cetaris Maintenance Work Order System to track work orders and maintenance history.
• Operate yard tractors and move trailers as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience performing safety inspections and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb and work in varying climate conditions.
• Dependable, self‑motivated, and equipped with personal tools.

What we offer

• Hourly pay ranging from $27.47 to $40.27.
• Full‑time, second‑shift schedule (2 pm – 12:30 am, Monday‑Friday).
