Trailer Mechanic – Full‑Time (2nd/3rd Shift)

About the role

R+L Carriers is seeking a dedicated Trailer Mechanic to join its Kentwood, MI Service Center. The position is full‑time, working the 2nd and 3rd shifts, and involves maintaining a fleet of trailers used in nationwide freight operations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance on trailers.
• Conduct safety inspections in compliance with FMCSA, company, and local regulations.
• Document safety findings and maintenance actions accurately.
• Test equipment to ensure performance meets manufacturer specifications.
• Lift and handle components up to 50 lb and use personal tools for job tasks.

Required profile

• Experience with safety inspections and knowledge of FMCSA regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
• Proven track record repairing or replacing defective trailer parts.
• Dependable, able to work in varying climate conditions.
• Own a complete set of personal tools.
