TPU Operator – Chemical Plant Production

About the role

Join BASF’s Performance Materials division as a TPU Operator at the Wyandotte plant. You will work on synthesis and extrusion lines, ensuring safe operations, product quality, and efficient production in a 12‑hour rotating shift environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate PLC and environmental control systems for TPU production.
• Read, record, and interpret data from beltlines, extruders, and other industrial equipment.
• Make prompt corrective adjustments, troubleshoot issues, and maintain optimal flow, pressure, temperature, and material composition.
• Handle transfer of solutions, load/unload chemicals from tanks, trucks, and rail cars.
• Perform routine visual inspections and basic maintenance on equipment.
• Follow batch sheets, loading sheets, and shift supervisor instructions.
• Cross‑train in other production areas and support teammates with problem‑solving.
• Participate in plant clean‑outs, painting, outage assistance, and equipment upkeep.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED or at least 6 months experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Willingness to work 12‑hour rotating day/night shifts, including holidays, weekends, and overtime.
• Ability to work in indoor/outdoor settings while wearing proper PPE and lift up to 50 lb.
• Compliance with site respirator policies and facial hair grooming requirements.
