Tool Control Coordinator – Aviation Tool Management

About the role

The Tool Control Coordinator is responsible for establishing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive tool control program modeled after commercial and military aviation standards. This role develops and enforces policies, processes, and accountability systems to ensure all tools used in maintenance operations are tracked, controlled, and compliant with aviation safety and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a robust tool control program, including policies, procedures, inventories, shadow boards, tracking systems, and inspection protocols.
• Lead daily tool room operations and issue points, guaranteeing full accountability and availability of tools for maintenance and field work.
• Maintain tool control documentation aligned with regulatory, OEM, and internal quality standards.
• Manage the tool calibration program, schedule calibrations, and oversee repairs and replacements.
• Conduct regular tool audits, inspections, and discrepancy investigations, reporting missing or damaged tools promptly.
• Train technicians on tool control standards, handling procedures, documentation accuracy, and safety expectations.
• Collaborate with production, quality, safety, supply chain, and engineering teams to meet program and aircraft operational requirements.
• Monitor and report tool control metrics, compliance findings, and program performance to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of experience as an Inventory Clerk or similar role, with ERP experience.
• Ability to work standard daytime shifts (9 am‑5 pm or 10 am‑6 pm).
• Excellent math, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
