Terminal Equipment Technology Manager

About the role

The Terminal Equipment Technology Manager leads the strategy, governance, deployment and performance of operational technology assets at APM Terminals Elizabeth, ensuring reliable, resilient and standardized systems that support safe and efficient terminal operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the OT strategy and roadmap, aligning with business priorities and global standards.
• Manage deployment, testing and integration of existing and new OT solutions, including Smartport and ABB crane OCR.
• Drive reliability and performance through root‑cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Lead and develop the equipment technology team responsible for PLCs, SCADA, RFID, CAN bus and related systems.
• Oversee vendor and OEM relationships to meet performance, cost and timeline expectations.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity frameworks and enterprise IT standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industry 4.0 or related field.
• Proven experience in container terminal operations, port digitization or large‑scale industrial automation.
• Demonstrated project management experience in complex deployment environments.
• Leadership experience managing cross‑functional teams and stakeholder relationships.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC card and Port Access Card.

Required skills

• Operational Technology systems: PLCs, SCADA, PDS, CCS, RFID readers, CAN bus, ECUs.
• Specific terminal technologies: Smartport, Asset Digitalization, ABB crane OCR.
• Project management and root‑cause problem solving.
• Cybersecurity frameworks and enterprise IT standards.
