Temporary Outlet Designer

About the role

Marc Jacobs International is looking for a Temporary Outlet Designer to join the Outlet Handbag team at its SoHo headquarters in New York City. The role supports the full design cycle, from concept development to pre‑production samples, while adhering to the brand’s aesthetic and calendar.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute creative ideas and develop design concepts for outlet handbag collections.
• Create and maintain inspiration boards, color cards, and seasonal CADs.
• Produce detailed technical specifications and tech packs using Adobe Illustrator.
• Conduct market and fashion research to inform trend‑driven designs.
• Collaborate with design, development, merchandising, and commercial teams to ensure cohesive collections.
• Present designs to the Commercial Creative Director and cross‑functional partners.
• Communicate technical requirements to factories and manage sample reviews.
• Organize design files and maintain a library of raw materials.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Art, Fashion, or Accessories.
• 4–7 years of design experience, preferably in handbags or accessories.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to present ideas clearly.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop.
• Competence with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Both digital and hand‑sketching techniques.
