Temporary Massage Therapist – Wellness Center

About the role

The University of Miami’s Herbert Wellness Center is seeking a temporary Massage Therapist to provide on‑site therapeutic massage services to students, staff and faculty on the Coral Gables campus. Working under the Assistant Director of Wellness Programs, you will deliver scheduled sessions, ensure client safety and contribute to the center’s stress‑relief initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct individual massage sessions promptly, adhering to scheduled start and end times.
• Maintain accurate attendance logs, recording client details, type of massage and any tips received.
• Verify client sign‑up and payment before each session and manage check‑in procedures at the reception desk.
• Keep the treatment room clean and stocked, arranging supplies or cleaning as needed.
• Provide a 1‑hour workshop on self‑massage and buddy‑massage techniques upon request.
• Notify the Assistant Director at least two weeks in advance of any session substitutions.
• Follow all Department of Wellness & Recreation policies and perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Active, unrestricted licensure to practice massage therapy in Florida.
• Familiarity with wellness‑center services for appropriate client referrals.
• Commitment to punctuality, client confidentiality and professional conduct.
• Ability to adjust techniques to meet individual client needs.

Required skills

• Professional massage therapy techniques.
• CPR certification or willingness to become certified.
