Telecommunications Technician (Part-Time) – Georgia Emergency Management

About the role

The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA/HS) is seeking a Part‑Time Telecommunications Technician to support the State Warning Point. You will work night shifts, handling voice and data communications that are critical during emergencies and routine operations.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, disseminate, and log emergency and non‑emergency information from state, federal and local partners.
• Operate radio, telephone, satellite phone, computer and specialized telecommunications equipment.
• Coordinate voice and data traffic in compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
• Support GEMA/HS, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and other agencies as needed.
• Maintain clear, courteous communication with the public and internal teams.

Required profile

• Ability to work night shifts and be on 24‑hour call statewide.
• Understanding of emergency management protocols and communication procedures.
• Strong attention to detail for accurate logging and reporting.
