Technician Operations

About the role

Meter is building the next generation of internet infrastructure and needs a Technician Operations professional to lead real‑time field installations. You will guide field technicians, troubleshoot network issues on the spot and develop tools that make deployments seamless.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the technical lead on live install threads, running pre‑install prep calls and managing escalation to engineering teams.
• Troubleshoot network problems during installation, including ISP circuit turn‑up, VLAN mismatches, DHCP reservations, inter‑VLAN routing, IPSec tunnel failures and HA firewall failover.
• Own the final sign‑off before a network goes live, confirming hardware status, NOS versions, ISP quality and executing VLAN auto‑configuration.
• Document deployment progress, update project managers and proactively surface blockers.
• Identify recurring failure patterns and work with Operations Engineering to create new playbooks, tooling or product fixes.
• Contribute to the design of field‑focused tooling and automation that reduces install validation time.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting network installations and field technicians in real time.
• Track record of delivering installations on schedule and reducing rework rates.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with technicians, engineers and stakeholders.
• Ability to analyse issues quickly and provide clear, actionable solutions.

• Knowledge of network operating systems (NOS) on firewalls, switches, APs and PDUs
• ISP circuit provisioning and validation
• Use of network monitoring dashboards and issue tracking tools
