Technician III – Laboratory & Machining Support

About the role

The Bush Combat Development Complex is seeking a full‑time Laboratory Technician III to support academic projects, teaching, and research operations within its Research Integration Center. The role involves hands‑on machining, fabrication, and technical assistance for students, faculty, and external customers.

Key responsibilities

• Perform machining and fabrication tasks using CNC mills, lathes, water jet, wire EDM, and welding equipment.
• Design parts with CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks, Mastercam) and program CNC machines.
• Set up, organize, and maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and safety documentation.
• Read and interpret manufacturing prints and operate precision measurement tools.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and modify equipment and machinery.
• Instruct and train lab users, assist with academic and research projects, and supervise student workers.
• Enter data, manage computer‑based lab activities, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Required profile

• Experience working with diverse groups of customers in a STEM environment.
• Ability to interact daily with faculty, students, and staff.
• Willingness to maintain lab safety and calibration records.
