Technician – Aircraft Build & Test

About the role

Icarus is developing solar‑powered aircraft that operate in the stratosphere for weeks at a time. We need versatile technicians who can turn raw parts, drawings, and ideas into flight‑ready hardware. This is a hands‑on, fast‑paced position where you will build, fix, test, and improve aircraft components.

Key responsibilities

• Build, assemble, modify, repair, and test aircraft hardware from engineering drawings, CAD files, and checklists.
• Support mechanical assembly, wiring, avionics installation, propulsion integration, and flight‑hardware preparation.
• Fabricate lightweight structures, brackets, harnesses, panels, mounts, and fixtures using hand and power tools.
• Maintain inventory, part organization, labeling, and factory cleanliness.
• Inspect work, catch issues early, and support ground testing, system checkouts, packing, transport, and field operations.
• Collaborate closely with engineers and other technicians to troubleshoot and improve builds.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience building, assembling, repairing, or fabricating real hardware.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort using a wide range of tools.
• High attention to detail and pride in clean workmanship.
• Practical problem‑solving ability and willingness to learn across mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing domains.
• Reliable, punctual, hardworking, and able to work in a shop, lab, or field environment.
