Technical Writer (TS/SCI)

About the role

CACI is hiring Technical Writers in the Fort Meade, MD area for a fast-paced, mission-focused environment. The writer prepares, reviews, revises and maintains technical documents covering internal processes, production activities, quality assurance and training materials, and works in a small team supporting configuration management and documentation oversight. The position requires a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and up to 10% local travel.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review, revise and maintain technical documents including work instructions, standard operating procedures, security handling procedures, governance documents, quality assurance activities and training materials.
• Write and edit documentation for hardware and software, including installation, configuration and how-to guides, and create code documentation, implementation guides and end-user guides.
• Produce defense acquisition documentation, user manuals and training manuals for DoD electronic equipment and systems, and documentation for cryptologic programs.
• Work with developers to produce quality documentation and training materials, and coordinate layout and design of documents.
• Research technical subject matter, interpret engineering and maintenance drawings, and apply the DoD/IC DS-89 manual standard to work products.
• Prepare reports, responses and briefings for a wide range of audiences.

Required profile

• Level 1: Associate degree in a technical discipline, or 2 years of additional TW experience; 2 years of TW experience on similar programs and contracts.
• Level 2: Bachelor's degree, or 4 years of additional TW experience; 6 years of TW experience on similar programs and contracts.
• Level 3: Bachelor's degree (a Master's may substitute 2 years of experience); 8 years of TW experience on similar programs and contracts.
• All levels require a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
