Technical Writer for V‑BAT Autonomous Aircraft

About the role

Shield AI is looking for an experienced Technical Writer to support the V‑BAT autonomous aircraft program. The role is embedded within engineering and flight‑test teams and focuses on turning complex aerospace and autonomy concepts into clear, usable documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with aerospace, software, and systems engineers to produce high‑fidelity technical publications for advanced aircraft systems.
• Develop and maintain service bulletins, operating procedures, maintenance manuals, troubleshooting guides, training materials, and mission documentation.
• Translate system architectures, design specifications, interface control documents, and test procedures into structured guidance for operators and maintainers.
• Create and manage supporting visuals such as system diagrams, workflows, and annotated graphics.
• Identify gaps or inconsistencies in technical information and drive resolution with engineering teams.

Required profile

• 3–10 years of technical writing or editing experience, preferably in aerospace, defense, or complex engineering systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, English, or a related field.
• Proven ability to work directly with engineers and subject‑matter experts to extract and document technical information.
• High attention to detail and consistency across large documentation sets.
• Self‑sufficient, proactive work style with the ability to manage competing priorities under tight timelines.
