Tax Specialist – TurboTax Expert (Hybrid, Bay Area)

About the role

Plato is seeking a Tax Specialist to join its hybrid team in the San Francisco Bay Area. The role focuses on preparing and reviewing tax returns using TurboTax, covering a spectrum from simple filings to complex multi‑state and self‑employment scenarios.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare individual tax returns in TurboTax for various client situations.
• Review calculations, forms, and interview flows for accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain organized records and documentation for each filing.
• Ensure adherence to federal and state tax regulations.
• Collaborate with product and technical teams to align tax workflows with platform requirements.
• Contribute to process improvements and update internal tax documentation.

Required profile

• Extensive hands‑on experience preparing returns in TurboTax across multiple filing seasons.
• Proven ability to handle W‑2, 1099, itemized deductions, self‑employment income, investments, and multi‑state returns.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to verify results for accuracy.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Relevant credential such as EA or CPA is a plus.
