Tax Paralegal Navigator – Low Income Taxpayer Clinic

About the role

The Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) of Legal Aid Services of Oregon seeks a full‑time Tax Paralegal Navigator to expand tax assistance and education for low‑income Oregonians. This limited‑duration position is funded by a 24‑month grant and combines in‑person work with the option for partial remote work from anywhere in Oregon.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Outreach Team to develop and host Facilitated Self‑Assistance clinics statewide.
• Attend community events to represent the LITC and extend tax education outreach.
• Identify systemic issues affecting clients and engage in advocacy efforts.
• Provide administrative support to the Program Director, including invoice processing and grant‑report preparation.
• Conduct trauma‑informed intake interviews and assist clients with tax controversy matters.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the LITC Program Director.

Required profile

• 1–5 years of experience navigating tax or other regulatory programs, or case management.
• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English, with public‑speaking ability.
• Highly detail‑oriented, organized, and capable of delivering high‑quality work.
• Demonstrated commitment to serving low‑income and culturally diverse populations.
• Ability to conduct trauma‑informed interviews and handle sensitive client information.
