Tax Analyst – Remote (Public SaaS, $500M+ Revenue)

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Tax Analyst to join a fast‑growing publicly traded SaaS company with over $500 M in annual revenue. This 45‑day remote contract will support both indirect and direct tax functions, reporting directly to the Tax Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate monthly U.S. sales and use tax filings through Avalara, including data review, reconciliations, exception resolution and filing support.
• Manage a high volume of tax notices, ensuring timely review, routing, follow‑up and resolution.
• Prepare and reconcile indirect and direct tax accounts in partnership with the accounting team.
• Assist with quarterly and annual income tax provision activities and related SOX compliance controls.
• Support indirect tax audits, taxability reviews and nexus research as required.
• Partner with Accounting, Finance and external consultants on tax compliance and reporting matters.
• Contribute to international indirect tax compliance initiatives and tax payments, GL coding and other administrative tasks.
• Participate in process‑enhancement and automation projects, and coordinate related meetings and communications.

Required profile

• 2–5+ years of experience in tax, accounting or a related field.
• Experience with indirect tax (sales & use tax preferred) and strong accounting fundamentals.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment and work independently.
• Excellent organization, communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Interest in process improvement, automation and AI tools is a plus.

Required skills

• Avalara tax compliance platform.
• Advanced Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
• Exposure to NetSuite, Workiva or Vertex.
• Knowledge of SOX compliance controls.
