Tanker Driver - Dry or Liquid Materials Delivery

About the role

Brenntag is hiring a driver in Reading to deliver packaged dry or liquid materials, LTL or TL, on Brenntag vehicles. The driver uses an air diaphragm pump on delivery, positions trailers and ensures loads are secured according to company policy and DOT regulations. The role has no supervisory responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Position trailers in the loading area, chock wheels and close internal and external valves before loading and unloading
• Pick up will-call products from vendors destined for the Brenntag warehouse or for direct customer delivery
• Check that loaded products match delivery paperwork and review bills of lading at delivery
• Comply with DOT packaging, labeling, marking, loading and safety procedures, and secure every load correctly
• Affix the correct placards in line with 49 CFR and monitor loads for leaks, following the emergency response procedure if needed
• Complete and deliver documentation such as signatures, bills of lading, C of A's and C of C's, and maintain a Driver's Daily Log Book (Samsara)
• Stay with the truck during loading and unloading, keep the truck clean and safe, and follow all Brenntag policies and procedures
• Attend required training and work overtime or weekends as needed

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED, or one year of related experience and training
• At least one year of experience working with chemicals
• Class A CDL with Hazmat endorsement and current medical card
• Clean driving record and ability to read, write and speak English
• Ability to operate a tractor-trailer and forklift safely; forklift certification required
• Ability to perform basic math in all units of measure and to follow detailed instructions
• Must meet PFT requirements to wear a respirator and have no facial hair that interferes with it
• Willingness to work overtime or weekends
