CDL Class A Driver - Chemical Distribution

About the role

Brenntag is looking for a safety-focused CDL driver to support its chemical distribution operations. The role involves operating Class 8 tractors and related equipment to transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials, including liquid and dry products, with a "Zero Accidents, Zero Injuries" safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Drive Class 8 tractors and lower power units for outside deliveries to customers and vendors, in-plant spotting and inter-company branch transfers
• Perform bulk deliveries of liquids and solids and packaged deliveries in drums, IBCs or other containers, including loading and unloading with pumps and air
• Manage the full process: transport, transfer, delivery, securing and paperwork
• Comply with DOT, OSHA and site rules, including placarding, pre-inspection, daily logs and reporting repairs
• Care for equipment, including ELDs, virtual gateways, cameras and tracking units, and keep it clean and working
• Stay in contact with the supervisor or dispatcher for delivery instructions

Required profile

• Class A CDL with Tanker, Bulk and/or Hazmat endorsement, current DOT medical card and TWIC card (where required)
• Ability to drive a manual transmission; preferred: 1 year liquid bulk experience or 3 years commercial driving experience
• High school diploma, GED or US military experience; chemical delivery experience considered
• Resides within sixty miles of the area; no lodging provided
• Passes pre-employment drug screen, background check and E-verify; passes DOT fit-for-duty exam
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds, frequently move up to 150 pounds, climb ladders and wear a respirator if required

Required skills

• Certified to operate electric or manual pallet jacks; forklift certification preferred if required by location
• Ability to operate dock locks, dock levelers and equipment for pickup and delivery
• Basic math and reading comprehension in English, and use of devices such as smartphones, tablets and Samsara
• Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed
