About the role
The Systems Control Technician works on industrial process control systems, applying operating principles, design limitations, and ensuring accurate measurement and control of a wide range of parameters. This position is based on the 1st shift at the Maplewood facility and may require use of a company vehicle.
Key responsibilities
- Apply operating principles, purpose, and design limits of primary sensing elements, control circuitry, and final control devices in closed‑loop and open‑loop systems.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, machine assembly prints, blueprints, equipment manuals, and process flow diagrams to meet specified tolerances.
- Set up, operate, and read precision testing instruments such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, ammeters, dead‑weight testers, and tachometers.
- Use Plant Engineering software and collaborate with cross‑functional teams, vendors, and engineering groups.
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, modify, calibrate, and adjust systems and components that measure and control current, voltage, temperature, humidity, pressure, flow, and other process variables.
Required profile
- At least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Two‑year Electronics Technology degree (completed) OR minimum five years of experience in installation, testing, repair, modification, and programming of industrial process control systems.
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment skilled trades test battery.
- Current, valid driver’s license and eligibility for company‑vehicle driving review.
Required skills
- Electronics knowledge including analog, digital, pneumatic, and programmable controller systems.
- Experience with AC/DC drive controls and computer/microprocessor‑based control systems.
- Familiarity with fire‑alarm, life‑safety, access‑control, CCTV, and intercom systems integration.
- Proficiency using precision instruments such as ammeters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, dead‑weight testers, potentiometers, thermometers, scales, and gauges.
- Basic understanding of networking devices and process sensors.
