Systems Administrator – Research Computing

About the role

The College of Engineering seeks a Systems Administrator to lead the implementation, deployment, and maintenance of business applications, research computing infrastructure, and supporting storage systems. The role combines hands‑on technical work with project leadership in a university research environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide daily and long‑term operational management of research computing, including HPC environments.
• Maintain and support laboratory systems and advise researchers on technology solutions.
• Plan, research, and implement emerging technologies, container and cloud solutions.
• Develop and enforce standards and operating procedures for cluster and data‑center environments.
• Oversee performance management, planning, counseling, and evaluation of staff.
• Prepare and manage budgets related to IT infrastructure.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Proven ability to lead projects and gather business requirements.
• Experience with data‑center management, virtualization, and enterprise storage.
• Familiarity with classroom audio/visual technologies and ITIL best practices (preferred).
• Strong collaborative skills and experience drafting policies, procedures, and technical documentation.
