Systems Administrator III/IV

About the role

Amentum, NASA's largest engineering solutions provider, is recruiting a Systems Administrator III/IV to support its systems and infrastructure. The role covers daily maintenance, virtualization, security, backups, documentation and project management in a multi-server environment. It is posted at multiple levels, and the company reserves the right to consider candidates at any advertised level.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance and operations tasks in a multi-server environment
• Maintain and tune the virtual environment using the latest virtualization software and support tools
• Oversee patch remediation and software deployment
• Ensure backup and restore operations are effective
• Maintain and strengthen system security and monitor systems to keep documented service levels
• Support local and shared services such as account management, storage arrays and disaster recovery
• Update documentation, maintain configuration control and manage infrastructure improvement projects
• Install and remove servers from racks, replace hard drives, and handle server shutdowns and power-ups during hurricane season or scheduled outages
• Provide Active Directory support for user permissions and handle approved software install requests
• Support cloud migration and cloud server and network operations

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in a related field, typically 10 years of experience
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in computer or system science and 5-15 years of progressive, relevant experience
• Strong background in Windows domain architecture, Active Directory, Linux, network security and load balancing
• Knowledge of the latest Windows Server and Linux operating systems and virtualization technologies
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency may be required, and a U.S. government background investigation must be completed
