Systems Administrator I

About the role

The Systems Administrator I provides routine systems administration and technical support for faculty, staff, and administrators within the School of Public and Allied Health at Prairie View A&M University. The role ensures reliable, secure, and efficient operation of computers, classroom technology, AV equipment, and eSports facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver Tier I and Tier II support for hardware, software, operating systems, printers, and connectivity issues.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Apple and Dell desktop and laptop computers.
• Create and manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
• Support remote and hybrid work technologies and assist with workstation deployment and upgrades.
• Maintain AV equipment, conference room technology, and eSports gaming systems.
• Assist network, server, and cybersecurity initiatives as directed.

Required profile

• Strong customer‑service orientation with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Ability to work independently under general supervision and follow documented procedures.
• Interest in supporting academic environments and emerging eSports technology.
