System Administrator

About the role

Douglas County is looking for a detail‑oriented System Administrator to maintain resilient, secure networks and provide excellent customer service. The role involves collaborating with cross‑functional teams to develop security policies, support strategic IT initiatives, and ensure the reliability of the County’s technology infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain secure systems, firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection solutions.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and apply patches and upgrades.
• Manage network cabling, install and test connections using cable testers and patch panels.
• Conduct security audits, enforce access controls, and document system configurations and changes.
• Assist management with technology planning, evaluate new technologies, and recommend improvements.
• Mentor team members and collaborate with other departments to integrate IT solutions.
