System Administrator II

About the role

Amentum is hiring a System Administrator II for a 24/7 mission set working 8-12 hour shifts on site (about 40 hours per week), rotating days and nights. The role works under the general supervision of a senior Systems Administrator or unit manager and involves installing, configuring and troubleshooting computer systems, providing help desk support and training to users and customers. It is a mission-essential position requiring reporting to duty in all weather conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with basic configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting and analysis of desktops, servers, networks and video systems.
• Participate in the installation and administration of local systems using multiple protocols and tools.
• Write detailed technical problem reports, assist with root cause analysis and recommend configuration and process changes.
• Install, upgrade and administer operating systems and application software in multi-user client/server environments using Windows 11 Enterprise.
• Provide technical support by responding to IT help desk issues.
• Perform other related duties as directed.

Required profile

• Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility, or the ability to obtain it; US citizenship is required.
• CompTIA Security+ certification maintained.
• Information assurance training to DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II.
• 2-4 years of information technology and Windows OS experience.
• Demonstrated system or network administration skills, including hardware and software.
• Current state-issued driver's license.
• Preferred: an associate degree in a related discipline.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience administering Windows 11 and Windows Server 2016/2019.
• Understanding of network topology, standards and protocols.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint).
