System Administrator - EG Labs

About the role

Amentum, NASA's largest engineering solutions provider, is hiring a System Administrator for its EG Labs team at Johnson Space Center (JSC) to join the Engineering Division. The role supports the Aeroscience and Flight Mechanics Division on the Amentum JETS2 contract, working with several labs that support analysis for crewed space flight, including commercial partners. It covers both Windows and Linux systems, wired and wireless networking, and security updates.

Key responsibilities

• Support Windows and Linux-based systems and manage and design wired and wireless lab-specific networks
• Maintain security updates on all lab systems
• Investigate system problems, monitor system health proactively and complete security upgrades
• Work alongside other System Administrators in the division, using and developing best practices
• Other duties as required

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in a related area, or experience in the field
• Typically 1 year of experience in an IT-related field
• Demonstrated problem-solving, task planning and communication skills
• Experience helping others with IT issues and working in a team
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency may be required, and a U.S. government background investigation

Required skills

• Linux (Red Hat-based OS used, other Linux OK)
• Windows 10 and later
• Preferred: Red Hat, IT service desk support, configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, BigFix, SCRM), monitoring and alerting, log consolidation, Git/GitLab, NASA security mechanisms
