Sustainable Development Intern

About the role
This 6‑month internship with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) supports the Office of Intergovernmental Support and Coordination for Sustainable Development. The role is based in New York and offers hands‑on experience in research, data analysis, and high‑level UN meetings.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct research on sustainable development topics and UN operational activities.
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data, creating visualisations and infographics.
- Assist in designing and rolling out surveys related to UN development systems.
- Support the organization of high‑level panels and seminars for the General Assembly and ECOSOC.
- Prepare draft summaries of intergovernmental discussions and consultations.
Required profile
- Enrolled in or completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree.
- Strong drafting skills in English and ability to synthesize information quickly.
- Detail‑oriented, diligent, and capable of working independently with limited supervision.

- Proficiency in MS Excel
- Proficiency in MS PowerPoint
