About the role

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a full‑time Surgery Services Representative to support surgical operations in Palm Beach Gardens. The role ensures smooth scheduling, accurate record‑keeping, and a high‑quality patient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Acquire operating‑room schedules and reconcile surgical and anesthesia records.
• Verify insurance information and obtain missing details as needed.
• Collaborate with billing staff and physicians to maintain complete, compliant medical records.
• Organize charge records by batching patient files by date of service.
• Respond to and resolve complex customer grievances.
• Coordinate pre‑operative and post‑operative visits and schedule surgical procedures according to provider instructions.
• Validate patient identification, create ID bands, and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Interview patients and verify demographic and financial registration data in the electronic system.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a healthcare or surgical support setting.
• Strong learning agility, teamwork orientation, and clear written and verbal communication.

Required skills

• Proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications.
