Surgery Scheduler (Level 2)

About the role

The Department of Surgery at the University of Miami is seeking a full‑time Surgery Scheduler (Level 2) to work onsite in Miami. The Scheduler acts as the liaison between patients, clinical staff, and physicians, coordinating all aspects of surgical and diagnostic procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain pre‑authorizations for procedures as required by insurance companies.
• Produce and distribute surgical and procedural schedules to physicians and relevant departments.
• Collaborate with patients, families, staff, and providers to schedule surgeries, pre‑op physicals, and testing.
• Coordinate with hospitals and vendors for special cases or unique circumstances.
• Identify opportunities to streamline the scheduling process and suggest improvements.
• Maintain up‑to‑date electronic scheduling tools and resolve system issues promptly.
• Ensure complete documentation to support accurate billing of surgical procedures.
• Adhere to university and unit policies, safeguarding institutional assets.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in surgical or medical scheduling.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete assignments accurately.
• Discretion in handling confidential information.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using NICE in Contact (contact‑center software).
