Surgery Scheduler 2 – Full‑Time Position

About the role

The Surgery Scheduler 2 serves as the primary liaison among patients, clinical staff, and physicians, coordinating all aspects of surgical and diagnostic procedures. This senior‑level position also mentors scheduling staff and ensures accurate, timely scheduling practices.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain pre‑authorizations from insurance companies and follow up on denials.
• Produce and distribute surgical and procedural schedules to physicians and departments.
• Coordinate surgeries, pre‑op physicals, testing, and special cases with hospitals and vendors.
• Maintain department and physician shared calendars, ensuring data integrity.
• Monitor electronic scheduling tools, report issues promptly, and keep systems up‑to‑date.
• Verify documentation for accurate billing and coding, and communicate any discrepancies.
• Optimize operating‑room block utilization and ensure required pre‑op testing is completed.
• Provide guidance to scheduling staff and suggest process improvements.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of relevant scheduling experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer software.
