Supply Chain Specialist – Aerospace & Defense

About the role
Make an immediate impact as a Supply Chain Specialist at Bascom Hunter, a developer of advanced aerospace and defense hardware. You will build a high‑performing supply base, bridge engineering and manufacturing, and ensure parts, services and equipment arrive on time, at cost and to specification from prototype through full‑rate production.
Key responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate and develop suppliers of precision mechanical parts and electromechanical assemblies; conduct capability reviews, scorecards and improvement plans.
- Translate engineering drawings and requirements into supplier‑ready packages, defining specifications, measurement methods and packaging.
- Run competitive bids, total‑cost analyses and negotiate pricing and terms; establish multi‑year or dual‑source agreements as needed.
- Plan manufacturing and inspection approaches with Quality, verify process stability, execute trial builds and approve first‑article parts.
- Drive lead‑time reduction, implement smart inventory strategies for long‑lead items and manage dual‑sourcing.
- Resolve supply issues quickly, qualify alternate sources and keep programs on schedule.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100D, export controls and customer contract flow‑downs in partnership with the QA team.
- Maintain accurate part and vendor data in ERP/MRP and communicate supplier risks and recovery plans to leadership.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Business with a focus on Supply Chain Management or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in sourcing, supplier development, supply chain or manufacturing engineering for mechanical/electromechanical products.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and discuss manufacturability, tolerances and measurement methods with suppliers.
- Strong negotiation skills with a focus on cost‑to‑should‑cost and total‑cost thinking.
- U.S. citizenship.
Required skills
- ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Deltek Costpoint or similar).
- PLM/PDM tools and CAD viewers such as SolidWorks.
- Basic SPC and measurement tools.
- Microsoft Office, Teams and SharePoint.
- Advanced spreadsheet proficiency.
