Supplier Quality Engineer

About the role

Armstrong Fluid Technology is expanding its Niagara Falls site and is looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer. The role ensures that materials, components and assemblies from the global supply base meet engineering specifications, quality requirements and regulatory standards, and works with suppliers and cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Quality.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate, qualify and develop suppliers, and conduct supplier audits, process assessments and performance reviews
• Lead supplier corrective actions, including root cause analysis, containment and verification of effectiveness
• Support new product development and supplier qualification, including APQP, PPAP, FAI and process validation
• Review and dispose supplier non-conformance reports and analyse supplier quality data to drive continuous improvement
• Take part in supplier selection, risk assessments and sourcing decisions from a quality perspective
• Investigate customer complaints and field quality issues, and support warranty investigations
• Collaborate with global quality teams to standardise quality procedures and inspection methodologies
• Drive continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and statistical analysis

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably mechanical engineering; higher degrees are an asset
• At least 3 years of experience in an engineering environment
• Quality control experience, education or diploma is an asset
• Fluency in three or more languages is an asset; the role is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Required skills

• Problem solving and root cause analysis
• Understanding of inspection processes, Go-No-Go and functional gauges, and lab instruments
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ASME HI and fire pump listings (FM, UL, LPC)
• Ability to design Go-No-Go gauges in SolidWorks and to read and assess engineering drawings, including GD&T
• Up to 25%-40% travel to supplier and manufacturing sites
