Supplier Development Engineer – Mechanical

About the role

Shield AI is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer focused on mechanical, machined parts. The role supports supplier performance, quality, and on‑time delivery for aerospace projects.

Key responsibilities

• Audit and embed process improvements to reduce cost, lead‑time, and enhance quality.
• Conduct on‑site audits to root‑cause supplier quality issues.
• Assess and develop supplier capabilities aligned with engineering priorities.
• Provide technical guidance on part specifications, manufacturing processes, and standards.
• Track delivery, quality, and cost metrics; implement corrective actions.
• Identify and mitigate supply‑chain risks to ensure uninterrupted production.
• Support new product introduction by ensuring supplier compliance with quality and delivery requirements.

Required profile

• 7+ years in supply chain, manufacturing engineering, or process engineering, preferably aerospace.
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, NX, or CATIA.
• Strong Excel and data‑analysis skills.
• Experience with PLM or ERP systems.
• Ability to read drawings and GD&T confidently.
• Understanding of machining, welding, and forming processes.
• Led root‑cause investigations using 8D or 5‑Why methods.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
