Supplier Development Engineer

About the role

Moog’s Military Aircraft Group is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer to drive supplier maturity, capability gaps, launch readiness and structured risk reduction for new product introductions. The role is based onsite in Torrance, CA, with a 9/80 work schedule and up to 35% travel.

Key responsibilities

• Lead structured supplier‑development plans and readiness assessments to improve capability, capacity and execution before issues become chronic.
• Manage and track supplier development plans with defined owners, milestones and closure evidence.
• Support supplier onboarding, segmentation, capability assessment and readiness review activities.
• Coordinate inputs from program, sourcing, manufacturing and quality when supplier maturity is below expectations.
• Drive clear issue definition and action ownership to prevent fragmented development work.
• Oversee NPI implementation in the supply chain, ensuring capacity, capability and industrialization actions are aligned for new part launches.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Manufacturing or Mechanical preferred).
• Minimum three years of engineering or supply‑chain manufacturing experience, including supplier development, APQP or industrialization.
• Proven ability to assess process maturity, capability evidence and supplier execution risk.
• Strong project‑management discipline with clear action tracking and follow‑up; willingness to travel 20‑35% as needed.

Required skills

• Experience with electro‑mechanical assemblies.
• Knowledge of electronics and machining processes.
• Familiarity with APQP and manufacturing readiness methodologies.
