Supplemental Instruction Leader I (ACE-AS)

About the role

Supplemental Instruction Leaders support students in challenging courses by attending class sessions, taking notes, and leading structured study sessions to enhance learning and improve success rates.

Key responsibilities

• Attend all assigned class sessions to model successful student behaviors and take lecture notes.
• Plan and facilitate weekly SI sessions using collaborative learning strategies.
• Collaborate with faculty to align session goals with lecture material and assignments.
• Promote SI sessions to enrolled students and maintain accurate attendance records.
• Incorporate active learning techniques such as group problem solving, discussion, and concept mapping.
• Provide exam review sessions prior to midterms and finals.
• Submit weekly session reports and reflections to the Program Specialist.

Required profile

• Current TAMIU student with at least 60 semester credit hours.
• Enrolled at least half‑time (6 credit hours for undergraduates, 3.0 GPA for graduates).
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 (undergraduate) or 3.0 (graduate).
• Ability to communicate effectively, motivate students, and maintain confidentiality.

Required skills
