About the role

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a full‑time Supervisor for Ophthalmic Services in Doral, FL. The incumbent will lead technical and coordinator staff, ensure smooth patient flow, and maintain high standards of clinical care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day direction to ophthalmic technicians, patient coordinators, and professional staff.
• Adjust daily schedules based on patient volume, staffing levels, and clinic flow.
• Respond to clinical and patient demands to optimize staff utilization.
• Perform ophthalmic testing or coordination duties as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of ophthalmic specialists’ functions and clinical information systems.
• Schedule weekly clinical observations to keep skills current.
• Coordinate staffing with physicians and handle special scheduling circumstances.
• Mentor and train assigned staff, ensuring competency and compliance with university policies.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
• COA certification or license.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in ophthalmic services or a related clinical setting.

Required skills

• COA certification.
• Operation of ophthalmic equipment (visual fields, photography, echography).
• Proficiency with clinical information systems.
