About the role

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Palm Beach Gardens is seeking a Supervisor to lead its ophthalmic clinic support services. This role oversees visual fields, photography, and echography operations, ensuring smooth patient flow and high‑quality clinical care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day direction to ophthalmic technicians, patient coordinators, and professional staff.
• Adjust daily schedules based on patient volume, staffing levels, and clinic demands.
• Respond to clinical and patient needs throughout the day to maintain efficient staff utilization.
• Perform ophthalmic testing or coordination duties as needed, with training provided.
• Maintain understanding of ophthalmic specialist functions and clinical information systems.
• Observe patient flow by working weekly in clinical areas and coordinate staffing with physicians.
• Mentor assigned staff, identify training needs, and ensure competency.
• Ensure compliance with university policies, internal controls, and standards of care.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification preferred.
• Experience in ophthalmic clinical settings or related technical support.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage schedules and staff.
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, coordinators, and technical teams.

Required skills

• Operation of ophthalmic equipment (visual fields, photography, echography).
• Familiarity with clinical information systems used in eye care.
