About the role
The University of Miami’s UHealth Laboratories Department is seeking a Supervisor to lead its Cytogenetics laboratory. This position provides operational, technical, and people leadership to ensure high‑quality, compliant, and efficient laboratory services.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee daily laboratory operations, staffing, and workflow.
- Lead, train, and evaluate staff, fostering professional development.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory, accreditation, safety, and quality standards.
- Manage quality control, quality assurance, and corrective‑action processes.
- Develop, review, and approve laboratory procedures and SOPs.
- Monitor turnaround times and performance metrics.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and inventory management.
- Facilitate inspections, audits, CAP surveys, and proficiency testing.
- Perform cytogenetic testing as needed to support laboratory demand.
- Communicate operational or clinical issues to senior leadership.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in cytogenetics or related laboratory work.
- Valid State of Florida Molecular Pathology Technologist license.
- Demonstrated ability in performance management, staff training, and team leadership.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
