Supervisor, Central Sterile Processing (Full Time)

About the role

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a full‑time Supervisor for its Central Sterile Processing department. This leader will oversee the decontamination, cleaning, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instruments and equipment. The role ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards while supporting a high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and direct all steps of sterile processing, including cleaning, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage, and distribution.
• Manage staffing, provide orientation, ongoing education, and performance feedback to department personnel.
• Develop, implement, and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Ensure compliance with accrediting and licensing requirements and act as liaison with the operating room and other departments.
• Recommend and lead quality and performance improvement initiatives.
• Maintain necessary supplies and equipment for the unit.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant experience, certification, or license.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant sterile processing experience.
• Certification as a Central Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST) required.
• Ability to manage performance, provide training, and lead a cohesive team.
