Summer 2027 Supply Chain Buyer Internship – Gloucester, MA

About the role

Applied Materials’ Global Supply Chain Department is searching for interns to join the team in summer 2027. Interns will work in the Global Supply Chain group for 12 weeks, supporting Supplier Account Managers, Procurement/Materials Managers and Supply Chain Analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Complete supplier request for quotations (RFQs) and work with suppliers on obsolescence compliance.
• Prepare supplier profiles for management presentations and perform part analytics to assign parts to proper commodity families.
• Interact with suppliers on cost‑reduction opportunities and support Supplier Account Managers with meetings, quarterly business reviews and capacity reviews.
• Perform buyer functions such as creating, rescheduling and cancelling purchase orders, expediting material, and resolving invoice discrepancies.
• Find alternate or emergency sources, provide delivery updates to factory stakeholders, and mitigate excess inventory through supplier negotiations.
• Conduct MRP and spend analytics to identify optimization opportunities.

Required profile

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Strong analytical and creative problem‑solving abilities, commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, quantitative and qualitative analysis capability.
• Valid work authorization for the internship period (no visa sponsorship).

Required skills

• Data‑analytics skills, e.g., advanced Excel and handling multiple data sets.
• Familiarity with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) processes.
