Substitute Teacher - Head Start/Early Head Start (Sikeston)

About the role

DAEOC is seeking substitutes for its Head Start/Early Head Start centers in Sikeston. The successful candidate works cooperatively with center staff, helping them run the center and classroom and carrying out other duties as needed. The position is on an as-needed basis.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out assigned duties according to Head Start Performance Standards and Program Policies and Procedures.
• Assist classroom staff and stay actively involved in classroom operations.
• Assist with assessments and screenings as directed.
• Make sure no child is left alone and use a proper voice tone with children, families, staff and the public.
• Assist with data entry and other tasks as directed.
• Build positive relationships with children and families, promote Head Start/Early Head Start goals, and act as an advocate for them.
• Maintain confidentiality of information about children, families and staff, and respect their diversity and culture.
• Provide parents and the public with appropriate literature and materials on Head Start and community resources.
• Report all suspected child abuse and neglect as required by law and submit written reports of hotline calls.
• Arrive at and leave the work site regularly and on time, and keep First Aid and CPR certification current.

Required profile

• A valid Missouri driver's license.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children and families and to serve as an advocate for them.
• Team player who assists other center staff when necessary.
