Student Research and Service Learning Specialist

About the role

The Student Research and Service Learning Specialist supports the School of Medicine’s student research and service‑learning initiatives. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, the role coordinates programs, manages data, and advises students on research opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of student research, service‑learning, and related interest groups.
• Manage the student research support budget and recommend funding allocations.
• Create and maintain Canvas pages and other online platforms for program communication.
• Curate and update databases of research and service‑learning opportunities and contacts.
• Track outcomes and present results to curriculum and executive committees.
• Develop communication materials and coordinate events and meetings.
• Contribute to the design and improvement of research‑related curricular offerings.
• Provide individualized advising, mentor matching, and compliance guidance to students.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or significant relevant experience preferred.
• Three to five years of related experience.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to prepare reports, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks.
• Commitment to confidentiality and detail‑oriented work.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Canvas learning management system.
• Database management and maintenance.
• Experience using publishing software and standard PC applications.
